One family with Christ at the centre, welcoming all!

Mission at St Andrew's

Spreading God's Word

We aim to spread God's word by friendship evangelism. We believe by welcoming people to social events and to special services, they will want to find out more of the Christian way and come to God. We aim to maintain friendships and support outside of church.

We also aim to appeal to a younger audience. Our Junior Church always has a vibrant feel and we a looking for ways to maintain this among teenagers and young adults.

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:8-10.

Helping Others

We aim to support all those in our church family in times of need. We have also, for a long time, supported local food banks. Now, we are looking to work with St Peter-in-Thanet and St Peter's Baptist Church to support a local food bank based at the Baptist Church. The plan is that this will not only provide food to those in need, but also provide a counselling and advice service.

For over fifty years, our Mission Action has raised mission funds to support those within and outside of St Andrew's parish. Over the years many thousands of pounds has been distributed.

"‘What should we do then?’ the crowd asked. John answered, ‘Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.’" Luke 3:10-11

Working with Others

As part of a Group Ministry we aim to work with other churches to work for Christ in Broadstairs. We are part of Churches Together in Broadstairs. This is the local group working as part of the national Churches Together organisation supporting and encouraging churches from a wide range of traditions to work together in unity.

Within Broadstairs there are a number of Church of England schools and our clergy support these schools in association with the other clergy in the town.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no-one to help them up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.

Sharing our Resources

Our church and community hall are valuable assets providing venues for a whole variety of community events. The charges made for use of these facilities pay for the running, upkeep and improvement to the buildings and also help achieve our mission.

"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." Hebrews 13:16.
